Ingredients
| 2 slices | wholegrain bread |
| to taste | cheese, egg or hummus |
| 1/4 | cucumber, in sticks |
| 5 | cherry tomatoes |
| 1/2 | apple, in wedges |
| a few drops | lemon juice |
Method
- Make the sandwiches and cut them in half.
- Stack the sandwiches on one side and slide the divider up against them.
- Cut the cucumber into sticks and the apple into wedges. Sprinkle the apple with a few drops of lemon juice.
- Put the cucumber, tomatoes and apple on the other side.
- Close the lid. In the fridge overnight, or straight into the bag in the morning.
The most common complaint about a school lunch box is that everything ends up touching. The cucumber makes the bread wet, the apple goes brown, and half of it comes home again.
Our 800 ml lunch box has a divider you can move or take out. Dry on one side, wet on the other. That alone solves most of it.
How to pack it
Sandwiches go on one side, cut in half so they stack. Slide the divider so the sandwiches fit snugly, and the rest of the space is for fruit and vegetables. A few drops of lemon juice keep apple from browning until the break.
Check your school's rules
Many schools ask parents not to pack nuts or peanut butter, because of allergies. Cheese, egg or hummus are easy alternatives.
What steel does not do
It keeps nothing cold, so a warm classroom means a warm lunch. It does not go in the microwave. And you cannot see through it: a name sticker on the lid helps at school.

Food should be stored without doubt.
