A school lunch box with a steel lid
Most children's lunch boxes close with plastic, even the steel ones: the box is steel, the lid is polypropylene. Ours closes with steel. The lunch box, the snack pot and the bottle cap. See the whole category, lid by lid.
What's in the school range
- Stainless steel lunch box 800 ml (17 × 12 × 6 cm) with a removable divider: sandwiches on one side, fruit on the other.
- Round 400 ml snack pot: for the mid-morning break.
- 500 ml bottle with a steel cap: every surface the water touches is 304.
Cheaper as a set: the School Start Duo is the lunch box and the bottle; the Schoolstart Trio adds the snack pot.
Two materials. Both named.
The lunch box and the snack pot are 304 food-grade stainless steel with one food-grade silicone seal. That is the entire list. The bottle adds one more, and we name it: its outer wall is 201 steel, which never touches the water.
Built for a school bag
It gets dropped, thrown in a bag and washed every evening. Steel dents at worst; it doesn't crack. Everything is dishwasher safe, and we guarantee the steel for ten years.
Leak-resistant, not leak-proof: upright is fine, yoghurt on its side at the bottom of a school bag is a gamble. We would rather say that now than after the first sticky bag.
What steel won't do
It doesn't go in the microwave, which at school rarely matters. You can't see inside, so put a name on the lid. It is heavier than a plastic box. And the bottle is double-walled but not vacuum-insulated: it won't keep a drink cold all day.
