What's covered
Ten years on the steel. Every 304 stainless steel part of everything we sell — the body, the lid, the divider, the bottle cap.
If it rusts, pits, cracks or wears through in normal domestic use within ten years of purchase, we replace it. No cost to you.
Rust is included, not excluded
We want to be specific about this, because the category isn't.
Several brands advertise a lifetime guarantee and then quietly carve rust out in the small print — which tells you they expect it to happen. 304 steel can pit if it's left wet, in contact with salt, for long enough. It's rare. It's also exactly the sort of thing a guarantee is for.
So ours covers it. If your steel rusts, that's our problem, not yours.
What isn't covered — and why we'd rather tell you now
The silicone seal
The seal is a consumable. We're not going to pretend otherwise.
Silicone loses its spring. After a few years of dishwasher cycles it compresses, and it stops sealing the way it did on day one. That isn't a defect — it's what silicone does, and no guarantee on earth can stop it.
So we don't promise something we can't deliver. We sell you a new one instead: a few euros, for as long as you own the product.
A company that sells you a €4 spare part is a company that expects you to still own the product in five years. We think that's worth more than a promise with a footnote.
Dents, scratches, and the marks of use
Steel dents. Drop it on a tiled floor and it will carry the evidence for the rest of its life.
It will also still close, still seal, and still be exactly as safe to eat from — which is the part we're actually guaranteeing. We're not promising your container will look new in 2036. We're promising it will still be steel, and still be doing its job.
Misuse
Bleach, abrasive cleaners, oven use, and anything that isn't normal domestic food storage.
Your legal rights are unaffected
This guarantee is offered in addition to your statutory rights under Dutch and EU consumer law, including the legal conformity guarantee (wettelijke garantie). It doesn't replace them, and nothing on this page limits them. If a product isn't what it should be, you have rights whether or not this page exists.
How to claim
Email hello@thestainless.co with your order number and a photo. That's the whole process. If it's covered, we send you a new one.
Why ten years, and not a lifetime
Because "lifetime" is a word that has stopped meaning anything — and this company exists because words in this category have stopped meaning things.
Ten years is a number. You can hold us to a number.
Food should be stored without doubt.
