Understanding stainless steel, and why it matters.

Stainless steel is often mentioned, but rarely explained. On this page, we explain what stainless steel is, why different grades exist, and why The Stainless Co. works exclusively with SUS304 stainless steel.

What stainless steel is

Stainless steel is an alloy primarily made from iron, chromium, and nickel. The addition of chromium creates a protective surface layer that helps prevent corrosion and keeps the material stable over time.

This makes stainless steel strong, durable, and suitable for repeated daily use, especially in products that come into contact with food and drink.

Not all stainless steel is the same

The term “stainless steel” covers a wide range of grades. These grades differ in composition, corrosion resistance, durability, and suitability for food contact.

Some grades are chosen for cost. Others for appearance. Only a limited number are suitable for long-term, food-safe use without coatings or treatments.

That distinction matters.

Why we use SUS304 stainless steel

SUS304 is a high-grade stainless steel commonly used in professional kitchens, food processing equipment, and medical environments.

We choose SUS304 because it offers:

  • Strong corrosion resistance
  • A neutral surface that does not retain tastes or odors
  • Long-term stability without coatings
  • Consistent performance over years of use

It is not the cheapest option. It is the right one.

What this means in daily use

Using SUS304 stainless steel means your container or bottle stays predictable. It does not degrade with use, does not absorb flavors, and does not need replacing after a short period.

It is designed to be cleaned, reused, and relied on, day after day.

How this fits our approach

At The Stainless Co., we believe everyday essentials should reduce uncertainty, not add to it. Choosing a proven material is part of that responsibility.

By focusing on one material and doing it well, we avoid unnecessary complexity and deliver products that quietly support your routine.
